Following the tremendous success of the Write-A-Poem project and publications over the years, Navan Education Centre is running this project again during the school year 2017/18 for both primary and post primary pupils.
Primary and Post Primary pupils are invited to compose poems around the chosen theme “My World” This publication will form part of the trilogy anthology starting with ‘My Ireland’ in 2016, ‘My Europe’ in 2017 and now ‘My World’ in 2018. This theme allows pupils full scope to engage their creative juices from the particular perspective of their own individual world as they encounter it to the wider context of the global world in which we all live. As this is our tenth year running this poetry competition the management committee of the centre have decided to offer it as a free competition and waive the usual small fee set to defray costs of a full colour publication.
Interested teachers are invited to enter their pupils in this poetry project. Every pupil in the class can submit individual poems on the theme outlined above. The class entries will then be submitted to a panel of independent adjudicators who will select the winning poems. These poems will be published in our tenth poetry anthology. Teachers are required to sign that pupils created their poems in class and are the pupils’ own work. All pupils who enter the competition will receive a certificate of participation for their entries. An Awards ceremony will be held in 2018 for the winning poems.
Entry into this competition is free for our tenth Write-a-Poem anniversary
