SUM18/17 Roots, Shoots, Trowels and Boots SESE Inside and Outside the Classroom
The main objective of this course is to highlight the outdoors as a valuable teaching and learning resource. Participants will be enabled to
- Enhance the use of the outdoors for the purpose of teaching Science and Geography
- Learn about the biology of plants, vegetables, butterflies, invertebrates and birds and practical ways to teach pupils about them
- Conduct experiments using plants, organisms and soil in order to enhance the learning of pupils
- Learn a sustainable approach to day to day life in the primary school and increase the biodiversity of the school buildings and grounds.
On each day of the course, teachers will learn about practical lessons outdoors that pertain to specific months of the school year.
The course will include a mixture of learning methodologies in a range of settings, including the Navan Education Centre, a local primary school and field trip in the wilds of Co. Meath! Lesson plans and comprehensive notes will be available for participants on all areas covered.
A refund will only to given if the cancellation of your place is two weeks prior to course commencement. The refund will be less admin fee of €10
