AUT24-136 Restorative Practices as it applies to the SNA

AUT24-136 Restorative Practices as it applies to the SNA

Restorative Practices as it applies to the SNA

DATE:    Tuesday, 19th November 2024
TIME:     7pm to 8pm
VENUE: Online via Zoom

Target Audience: Primary & Post Primary Special Needs Assistants and Early Years Educators

Restorative Practices is more than a program, more than an educational “tool” and more than an alternative to discipline. It’s a way of being. In that sense we need everyone in the school involved. SNAs are well placed to foster this philosophy and attitude and, in many cases, have been at the forefront of RP growth in schools. This webinar, with the aid of one such SNA, will spell out the opportunities for SNAs to develop their practice through RP, and potentially develop their schools as well.

Speakers - Joe Power & Brid Kilmartin

joe power

Joe Power is an independent RP trainer/facilitator and a Quality Specialist with CDI Tallaght. He was previously Development Officer for Limerick and has worked with dozens of schools, both primary and secondary from one off Croke Park sessions to whole school implementation. He also employs the values and skills of RP in his own life.

brid kilmartin

Brid Kilmartin, SNA in St. Ailbes secondary school Tipperary Town, is a certified CDI RP trainer. She has trained staff in restorative approaches (building community, promoting respect, addressing conflicts) and believes in the power of RP to transform individual behaviours and the overall school climate, thereby creating a safer, more inclusive learning environment for all.
