Maths Week Quiz Day (Fifth and Sixth Class)

Target Audience: Fifth and Sixth Class

We are delighted to announce a Live Maths Week Quiz Day with a difference on Wednesday October 15^th. For the first time ever, we are inviting all classes to take part in the quiz. The main aim of the quizzes is for pupils to enjoy playful and engaging learning experiences, and see Maths as a fun and accessible subject for all. The focus will not be on one correct solution, but will enable pupils to share their individual thinking and strategies.

The quiz will take place on Zoom and will last for 45 minutes, but it is envisaged that teachers will be able to further discuss the content with pupils afterwards. 

Please note this is non competitive, and it is hoped that all pupils will enjoy the experience! Please ensure your pupils have a pencil and a blank A4 page. They may work independently or in pairs/groups. Plenty of Maths Talk is encouraged! Bígí Linn!

Bio of Presenter: Michelle Culloty

Michelle Culloty is a Primary School Teacher with 13 years teaching experience. She has a degree in Computer Science and a Postgraduate Diploma in Educational Leadership.

She has been seconded to Oide for the past 6 years, as a Professsional Learning Leader on the Primary STEM Team. She was heavily involved in the design of the CPD for the New Primary Maths Curriculum, and has a unique insight into and understanding of same. She regularly facilitates whole school closure days, school support, webinars and face-to-face sessions. Her Instagram handle is @mathschats.
