SP26-93 Supporting Anxious Teenagers with CBT

SP26-93 Supporting Anxious Teenagers with CBT

Date: Wednesday April 15th

Time: 7:00 pm

Online Webinar

Target Audience: Primary, Post Primary Teachers, SNA’s & Parents

This webinar explores how Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) principles can be used to understand and manage anxiety in teenagers. It focuses on helping education professionals and parents identify what drives teenage anxiety and how to respond in ways that build trust, regulation, and resilience.

Participants will learn how to recognise common thinking traps, emotional triggers, and behavioural responses that keep anxiety cycles going. The session demonstrates how CBT tools such as thought-challenging, exposure through small steps, and positive behavioural activation can help teenagers shift from avoidance to confidence.

Real-life examples and practical strategies are shared to support classroom, home, and peer-based situations, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration. The approach is compassionate, structured, and designed to help adults guide young people towards calm, capable action in moments of stress or uncertainty.
