Target Audience: Primary Teachers - Junior Infants to Second Class

Over 3 one hour sessions ‘Beyond the Sound-Out’ is designed to help Junior Infant – Second Class teachers bridge the gap between phonics and fluency, while scaffolding skills to comprehension. We’ll explore high-impact “before, during, and after”; techniques that lighten the cognitive load and transform decodable texts into tools for fluent reading and early comprehension.

Bio of Presenter: Elise Lovejoy

Elise Lovejoy is the founder/CEO of Express Readers Inc. and The Teachers Table. Elise holds a BA and an MA in elementary education with 15+ years of experience in the classroom, grades K-2nd grade. Currently, she works with teachers across the country through professional development to promote and apply practices based on the immense body of research on how students learn to read. She is also a mom to two learning readers, and a reading interventionist in her spare time.
