SP20020 Wellbeing Retreat Day For Teachers
Wellbeing Retreat Day
Teaching is becoming an increasingly stressful role and there is a high risk of burn out in the profession. Teachers are tasked not only with education but also with the needs of the students and their families. Managing these sensitive and often upsetting situations takes a large amount of energy leaving teachers feeling exhausted.
This wellbeing retreat day will involve the creation of a therapeutic space for self-exploration and trial of stress management techniques through the following;
· Yoga – The use of breath work and movement to integrate the mind and body. Yoga alleviates stress and tension from mind and body.
· Meditation - Meditation is a process of awareness and the stilling of the mind. It has multiple health benefits; alleviating the stress of modern living, improving brain and gut function, boosting immunity and mood, and slowing the ageing process. Through focusing on moment by moment experiences your brain is trained to remain calm even in the most stressful situations.
· Journaling – The use of writing for self-reflection and self-expression helps to reduce stress and manage anxiety.
· Nature and Walking- Spending time is nature is therapeutic and has a multitude of health benefits including stress reduction and improvement of mood.
