Senior Science Quiz 2023

ISTA is delighted to announce full details of the Senior Science Quiz 2023, including details for all the regional rounds taking place in 14 venues around the country on Thursday 16th November (during Science Week). We’re delighted to add a new venue in Co. Meath, where members in the North East, including North Dublin and Louth, might find more accessible.

Applications are now open for these events and teachers should complete the application form (see below link) and send it, along with the relevant payment, to the contact listed for each venue. The various venues, contact details and rules of the quiz are included on the application form. Demand is generally high so please get your entries in as soon as possible.

Please note that 5th-year or repeat students are not allowed to compete. It is also important to stress that accompanying teachers must be members of the ISTA – teachers can join ISTA by clicking here or can renew their membership by following the instructions on this page.

Each venue will pose the same questions to the students (drawn from the Leaving Certificate Biology, Chemistry & Physics courses, as well as general science knowledge and news content) with the top teams from each regional event competing in the national final on Saturday, 2nd December at the TBSI building in Trinity College Dublin. The ‘quizmaster’ for the final will be science communicator Mark Langtry.

We are thankful for the continued support of BioPharmaChem Ireland in sponsoring this event. Teachers may find the questions from the 2022 final here, to give an indication of the style of questions.
