Recruitment of Written Examiners for the 2026 Certificate Examinations
The State Examinations Commission (SEC) is currently recruiting;
- Examiners to mark the written examinations (all subjects) at Junior Cycle, Leaving Certificate and Leaving Certificate Applied 2026
The SEC is extremely grateful for the cooperation it receives from thousands of teachers each year to undertake the critical work of examining at the certificate examination. Recruitment and retention of teachers as examiners is an extremely important whole of system issue at second level.
The website www.secexaminer.ie provides information and resources for teachers curious about working as an examiner - including what they can expect to earn; how the online marking system operates; as well as how the experience can enhance their teaching skills and further their career opportunities. This digital facility allows potential new examiners and superintendents to submit an expression of interest in becoming an examiner or superintendent for this year and to apply for the role.
